Artist Statement
My art comes from a deep evergreen point within me that tends to express nature in her most natural state. With the help of the hue of green and its analogous neighbors on my colour palette, I start a process which I call "Creating scenery with voices". I am constantly visiting waterfalls and lakes as the core elements of my style can be found there, thereby replenishing my inspiration. The reason behind my affinity for green is self evident, as I spent my formative years in a loving family home beside a lagoon.
Biography
Khalid Balogun (A.K.A. Khalltemi art) hails from Lagos State, Nigeria. He was born on the 23rd of July, 2002, Delta State, Nigeria.
Khalid is a multidisciplinary floral and landscape artist majorly known for his realistic waterfall art. He shows a keen interest in moving water, flowers, landscape and natural elements that blend with his mantra "Creating scenery with voices". He began drawing at a very young age and his style came naturally to him as he grew up in a riverine area.
It was not until 2019 when Khalid had his debut group exhibition at the University of Lagos that he became certain of his career path as an artist. Khalltemi is always open to experimenting with new ideas and various mediums, even though his goal remains the same. The goal being, to afford his audience a sense of attachment and presence in those places artistically represented as paintings by him.
